Identity Theft Investigated

A Putnam County man, who got phone calls from several local businesses saying he owed them money, has learned that someone has apparently used his identity to open up credit card accounts that he did not authorize. The sheriff's department says the victim believes that his wife's daughter and son-in-law had purchased furniture in his name and that someone had also used his identity to open up at least two credit card accounts. The credit card companies and the furniture store have all called him to say that he owes money. He says a Cookeville clothing store has also called and claims that he has never even been in that store. Investigation is underway.
