Man Charged with Shooting at Vehicle

Aggravated assault charges are pending against a Putnam County man who allegedly fired a shotgun at his nephew's truck in a dispute over money. Police say 78-year-old Davis Stewart of Bruce Ridge Road got into a verbal altercation and allegedly threatened his nephew with a broom handle. The nephew then left the scene and went to his home across the street, but claims that as he was leaving the residence a few minutes later he saw his uncle raise up a shotgun and shoot toward his vehicle. Officials say they found a visible pattern of birdshot above the driver's side window. Stewart was not immediately arrested because he was assisting his 101-year-old father, but he later turned himself in at the sheriff's office. He'll be arraigned in General Sessions court later this month.
