Shoplifting Grandma Charged with Assault
An alleged shoplifter, who ran over a store employee with a car, is now facing charges of aggravated assault with a weapon. Police say 65-year-old Judy Tinch of Livingston was allegedly shoplifting with her granddaughter at Pebbles Jewelry and Purses on W. Spring St. According to authorities, when Tinch was confronted by a store employee, she attempted to run from the scene. A struggle ensued, which ended up in the parking lot of the business and a police report says Tinch "slammed the car into drive running toward" the victim, who told police that she thought she was going to be dragged under the vehicle. Instead, she was able to jump up on the hood briefly before being thrown to the sidewalk. Tinch left the area, but was later picked up in Overton County and transported to the Putnam County jail for booking. Police say a store security video documented some of the incident.
