Air Show Scheduled At Upper Cumberland Airport

An estimated 15,000 people are expected to attend the 2009 edition of the Upper Cumberland Air Show on Sept. 19 at the Upper Cumberland Regional Airport. Organizers say this year’s show will include favorites from the past as well as many new performers including a special appearance by the Air Force A-10 “Warthog.” Gates will open at 9 a.m., with the show beginning at 1 p.m. The public is invited to come in early, as airplanes will be flying in all morning. There will also be numerous static displays, from World War II and the Signal Corps, other historic aircraft, war birds, experimental aircraft, and scale aircraft. The flight simulator will be back, as well as activities for the kids. Tickets are on sale now at locations in the area including the Highland’s Visitor Center in Cookeville, and the Sparta – White County Chamber of Commerce in Sparta. Admission is $10, with children 10 and under being admitted free.
