Airport Road Construction Gets Initial OK
Putnam County's planning committee has recommended approval of a plan by White County to build a road on property belonging to the Upper Cumberland Regional Airport. The airport is co-owned by Putnam and White Counties, along with the cities of Cookeville and Sparta. White County is developing an industrial park on property adjacent to the airport and wants to provide an access road to that park through the airport property. Officials say they don't think it will present a problem for aviation, although they're still checking on that issue.
