Court Date Set For Alleged Burglars

A September 14th court date has been set for two Putnam County residents, charged with aggravated burglary. 37-year-old Jerry Dewayne Shoemake and 34-year-old Sherry Marie Mayberry, both of Country Meadows Lane, were arrested after being caught at a home on Windsor Street, near Fairground Street. Police say a woman returned to her home last Thursday night and noticed an unfamiliar vehicle in her driveway. She also saw two people coming out of her house and immediately called police. According to reports, the couple drove away from the scene of the crime, but were stopped a short distance away. They were found to be in possession of several items allegedly stolen from the home.
