Good Samaritan Victimized

Cookeville police say a local woman, who was trying to do the right thing, ended up being victimized by thieves. The woman, who lives on Walnut Avenue, answered her door last week to a man and woman who asked her if they could use her restroom and use the telephone. They told her that a friend of theirs had run out of gas and they needed to call for help. The woman let the two into her home and showed them where the bathroom and the phone were located. But she says on their way out, they picked up an electric hedge trimmer that she owns and walked out with it. The loss was placed at $80. Police are now looking for a black male and white female suspect, who may be driving a full-size maroon colored truck.
