A man wanted in Memphis on homicide charges has been picked up in Putnam County. Cookeville police arrested 22-year-old Arthur L. Simmons II after encountering him while working on another case. Officer Brandon Tayes says that Simmons was the driver of a car in which police found marijuana. But, when questioned, Simmons told police his name was Lattrell Smith. It was only when "Smith" was fingerprinted by jail guards that a records check found him to be wanted by the Memphis Police Department. He is a suspect in a Memphis murder case from May of last year. The vehicle Simmons was driving and $822 in cash he had were seized.
