Putnam Fire Station Burglarized Again
The Hilltop Express newspaper is reporting that the Putnam County Volunteer Fire Department substation in Monterey has been burglarized again. The incident was reported less than a week after a Putnam County Volunteer fireman was arrested for allegedly stealing a chainsaw from the station back in 2006 and selling it to another man a couple of weeks ago. Putnam firefighters reported to Monterey Police Officer Bruce Cantrell that a Magellan Maestro 4000 GPS, two gas cans, full of gasoline, two reciprocating saws and a charger, are missing. The last time firefighters saw the items was on July 26th. They say total value of the items was nearly $1,200. They also say there was no sign of forced entry to the building. Since the theft, firefighters say all of the locks at the Monterey substation and others in the area have been re-keyed.
