Sign Regulations To Be Discussed

The Cookeville planning commission Monday night meets to talk about an amendment to the zoning code as it pertains to the colors of lighting and time limits of electronic reader boards in the neighborhood commercial zone. The current code prohibits certain colors of light, but representatives of a local sign company say most ordinances have limitations on brightness more so than color. The issue was brought up earlier this year as local officials worked to accommodate the sign that will be going up on a new Walgreen's store on North Washington Avenue. Also on Monday night, the planning commission will consider amendments to the zone designated for planned residential developments, and they'll consider final plats for new subdivisions on South Cedar Avenue, South Walnut Avenue and East Gate Circle.
