Welfare Check Turns Up Marijuana

The Putnam County sheriff's department continues to investigate an incident in which authorities say they came upon a bag of marijuana while doing a welfare check at a home east of Monterey. Authorities say they had been requested to make contact with a two-year-old child who had been left alone at a residence on Hanging Limb Road. Deputies entered the house through an unlocked front door, looking for the child. And, while they didn't locate the youngster, they did reportedly find some marijuana. They say the child had apparently been picked up by a friend of the resident. They are still trying to determine exactly what charges may be brought in connection with the discovery of drugs.
