The Cookeville-Putnam County Chamber of Commerce is hosting a workshop focusing on the Employee Free Choice Act.
The educational workshop will be held Tuesday, Sept. 22 at the Leslie Town Centre in the Estes Williams Conference Room. Attendees can choose to attend either the morning session from 8 until 11 a.m. or the afternoon session from 1 until 4 p.m. The cost to attend is $35 per person.
This workshop will prepare businesses for legislation that might change the way they conduct business, covering the legalities of EFCA. It will also help reexamine policies, practices, procedures and employee attitudes. All employers, CEOs, presidents, managers, supervisors and any one else who might benefit are encouraged to attend.
“Our local existing industry managers have asked for more information on the proposed EFCA, and we found two well-versed individuals to conduct sessions to meet their needs,” said Lillian Hartgrove, vice president of Economic Development for the Chamber.
Jeffery Jones and Gary Wright will present the workshop. Jones specializes in commercial transactions, governmental law, creditors’ rights and insurance defense. He is the current Putnam County attorney and former district representative for the Tennessee Young Lawyers Division of the Tennessee Bar Association.
Wright practices in labor and employment law, emphasizing on NLRB defense work, union avoidance, collective bargaining, contract administration and arbitration law. Wright is a Tennessee Supreme Court Approved Mediator and has served on the Executive Council of the Tennessee Bar Association and Labor Law Section. He is a member of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the Tennessee Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
