City Hall Building Negotiations Stall
Cookeville city officials say their long-term goal remains the same. They would like, at some point, to move into a new city hall building. But negotiations have now ceased between the city and the owners of a building that now houses Regions Bank. City manager Jim Shipley says the decision to suspend talks was made after city officials learned that Regions Bank held a long-term lease on the building and had no intentions of giving up that lease. He says the city is not actively pursuing another site right now, but that they do have a new city hall included as part of their long range planning.
