Illegal Prescripton Pill Sales Alleged
Two Putnam County residents are facing charges of selling drugs today after Cookeville police conducted an investigation at a home on W. 9th St. Officer Cary Matheney says he had gone to the home to investigate a report of drug activity and received permission to search the residence. That search allegedly turned up 31 Xanax pills and eleven hydrocodone pills, which Matheny claims were being offered for sale. 46-year-old Sarah Louise Sullivan of 9th Street and 43-year-old William McKinley Hamilton of Ellison Goolsby Road were charged with possession of drugs for re-sale and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police say that Sullivan's cell phone was receiving messages from would-be customers -- even while the search was in progress. A man who came to the residence allegedly looking to buy drugs was also issued a citation.
