October Electric Bills Should Go Down
Cookeville electric department customers will see their power bills go down next month -- before potentially going up later in the year. Electric Department Director Tony Peek says the increase is coming about because TVA has approved a rate hike, but the decrease is also the result of TVA action -- specifically, the fact that they overcharged customers on a "fuel rate adjustment" earlier this year. The city council has approved a resolution that, effectively, "passes through" any rate changes from TVA on to local customers of the Cookeville Electric Department.
