Putnam Deputies Investigate Stolen Livestock

The Putnam County sheriff's department is investigating the theft of some livestock from a farm in the southwestern part of the county this week.Willard Nash Jr. told deputies that sometime during the past two weeks, thieves have stolen four or five pigs from his property on Cookeville Boat Dock Rd. He estimates the loss at about four hundred dollars. Nash became aware of the theft when a woman called him and reported that a man who had been courting her daughter had been trying to give the young woman two pigs that he had allegedly taken from Nash's farm. Nash also said that the woman told him another individual had killed one of the pigs and had a cookout with the animal. Investigation is continuing.
