Rep. Fincher Debates Gun Carry Bill

A debate over guns came up once again Tuesday as the Judiciary Committee of the state House of Representatives discussed a bill, which would allow people with handgun-carry permits to keep their guns in their vehicles while at work -- even if their employer has a different policy on the issue. Representative Henry Fincher of Cookeville is on the committee, and says "The reality is you're disarming the lawful permit holder from his or her home, from their front door, all the way to the company gates." Representatives of business groups told the Committee that the state should not interfere with their property rights by forcing them to let employees bring weapons onto company property. But no action was taken on Tuesday.
