Theft and drug ring shut down in Monterey
Monterey's Hilltop Express newspaper is reporting that after a two-month investigation, Monterey Police have shut down what's described as a major theft and drug ring operating in and around town. Authorities say indictments against several people are being sought. Monterey Police Chief Tim Murphy said that search warrants were executed on two homes, one on Woodcliff Road and the other in the Cherry Creek Community. He says a search of another residence in Monterey was undertaken with the consent of the occupants. The searches reportedly turned up more than a dozen guns, several power tools, several hundred narcotic pills; what Murphy called "a substantial amount of cash."
