Wife Charged In Spouse's Murder

They had reportedly been in church together just a few weeks ago, but today a Putnam County woman is in jail, charged with murdering her husband. Authorities say second degree murder charges have been filed against 28-year-old Dana Kay Garrett of Claude Loftis Road in the Double Springs community. The sheriff's department says Ms. Garrett stabbed her husband, 34-year-old Toney Dale Garrett, in the chest with a kitchen knife during an argument over money late Tuesday night. She then called 911, but Mr. Garrett died soon thereafter. Police say the couple had a history of domestic violence. Their two children were reportedly in the home at the time of the stabbing, but were said to be asleep in a bedroom. The stabbing took place in the kitchen.
