Craft Center To Offer Classes
Tennessee Tech University’s Appalachian Center for Craft will offer evening classes in ceramics beginning Monday, January 25th. The workshops run one night a week from 6 to 9 p.m., for eight weeks. On Monday evenings, Functional Handbuilding with instructor Melody Tiemann will be offered. Officials say this class is appropriate for all skill levels, and includes working with low-fire terracotta clay and surface design techniques. The Tuesday evening class, Beginning Wheel Throwing, also taught by Tiemann, focuses on helping beginners become comfortable with the processes of throwing on the potter’s wheel. The goal is for students to be able to successfully throw 6-inch tall vases and vessels and 6-inch wide bowls by the end of the course. For more information, call 372-3051.
