Forgery Alleged In Check Cashing Case

Forgery charges are pending against a Sparta man who allegedly tried to cash a $1,500 check at a Cookeville bank drive-thru last week. Police say it happened at a branch of the Bank of Putnam County. 20-year-old Bojan Allen Williams of Canary Lane, Sparta, reportedly presented a check with a name on it that the teller recognized. But when the teller did not see the man in the vehicle with Williams, an investigation began which resulted in the discovery that the check had been stolen from a Crossville man.
