Holiday Vandals At Work In The Area

A number of incidents of holiday vandalism are under investigation today by local authorities. A Putnam County man reported to the sheriff's office that a mailbox on a 4 by 4 post had been tossed through the back window of his mother's 1996 Town Car while it was parked in her driveway on Phifer Mountain Road. Authorities say the mailbox had been stolen from a home on Stone Seminary Road. An extra watch was placed on both homes. Meanwhile, a Cookeville businessman is offering a reward for information on who has been shooting out the windows of several buildings he owns on West Jackson Street, across from the Kohl's store. Herb Sweetland says that someone has shot at the windows at least four times over the past several months. He's offering a one thousand dollar reward in the case. Anyone with information can call Crimestoppers at 520-7867.
