Red Light Running Woman Causes Wreck

A grand jury will decide whether charges should be brought against a Wilson County woman who allegedly caused an accident by running a red light. Cookeville police say the 25-year-old Lebanon woman was disoriented after the wreck at the intersection of East Stevens Street and Jefferson Avenue. They say they found a half empty bottle of Xanax, an empty bottle of Adderall, a small amount of marijuana and a glass pipe in her car. Witnesses claim that she had stopped in the middle of a nearby intersection before striking a curb and then accelerating through the red light at Stevens and Jefferson. A passenger in the other car involved in the wreck reportedly sustained a broken nose and a four-inch laceration that required several stitches to close. Officer Michael Herrick says charges are pending the results of a TBI lab analysis and says the case will be taken to the grand jury.
