Smoke Bomb Leads To False Fire Call

Authorities say disciplinary action will be taken against a 17-year-old girl who allegedly set off a smoke bomb at a private school outside of Monterey -- causing the several units from the Putnam County fire department to begin racing to the scene. It happened Monday night at Heritage Academy on the Clarkrange Highway, and officials say two trucks out of the Monterey station, three out of Cookeville, and one out of Bangham were on their way to what was initially reported as a fire in a dormitory at the school. They later learned that it was just a smoke bomb that had been set off.
