Surveillance Video May Identify Wallet Thief

Authorities say video surveillance tapes have helped them to develop a suspect in the theft of a wallet from a Cookeville woman last week. The woman told police that she was at Walgreens when the wallet apparently went missing, but says she did not realize it was gone until her credit card company called her about an hour later to tell her about suspicious activity. The card had been used less than an hour after it was taken to make a large purchase at Walmart. Thirty minutes after that, it was used to make a purchase at the Shell Station in Monterey. However, it was turned down when the thief tried to use it at the Monterey Burger King five minutes later. Monterey police are working with detectives in Cookeville to solve the case.
