Thieves Keeping Up Pre-Holiday Activities

Christmas is over, but thieves in the Cookeville area are still at work. A resident of North Maple Avenue told police that someone broke into his truck this week and stole a .20 gauge shotgun, a box of shells, a digital camera and a five hundred dollar GPS unit. Meanwhile, an LCD television, a video game system, and several games and movies were stolen out of an apartment on Carolina Avenue. Burglars made entry by prying open a back door. In a separate case, a Tennessee Tech student on Whitney Avenue told police that while he was gone over Christmas, someone broke into his apartment as well -- but since they had been the victim of a similar burglary over Thanksgiving, he and his roommates had taken all of their valuables to the parents' homes -- including the TVs and computers.
