Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Charge
A Cookeville man, who allegedly ran a stop sign while talking on his cell phone, is today facing a charge of possessing drugs for re-sale. Cookeville police officer Josh Ward says that 49-year-old Dallas Carl Allen of Shag Rag Road came close to striking Ward's patrol vehicle when he rolled through the stop sign at Mahler and West 7th Street. Ward alleges that Allen was driving on a revoked license and says that a search turned up more than 50 valium pills for which Allen did not have a prescription. Ward says Allen's cell phone was also confiscated because it allegedly contained several text messages related to drug sales.
