Water Dispute Headed To Court

A hearing is scheduled to be conducted Friday in an ongoing dispute between the town of Baxter and the Cookeville Boat Dock Road utility district. The town claims that the utility district is putting water lines into areas that are more properly served by the city of Baxter. They have gotten a temporary restraining order to prevent the water district from continuing work in the area of Ditty Road, between Mine Lick Creek Road and Highway 56. Chancellor Ron Thurman will hear argument Friday on whether to make that temporary injunction permanent.
