School Board Agrees To Changes In Zoning Plan

A majority of the Putnam County school board has now agreed to make some changes to a proposed "hard zoning" plan which was supposed to go into effect this fall. The board has now decided to continue with what's called a priority enrollment system, although at least one board member says that zoning is needed to balance enrollment across the system. Meanwhile, board members have been told that the system may need more than two million dollars in additional local revenue next year -- just to maintain a "status quo" budget. The board approved the first draft of that budget at their meeting this month.
