Ten Qualify To Run For Cookeville Council
There will be a total of ten candidates vying for the five available seats on the Cookeville city council. The qualifying deadline passed at noon on Thursday, and those who have returned papers include Connie Albrecht, Alma Anderson, Zach "Papa" Bollen, John Donnelly Jr., Larry Epps, Harold Jackson, Anthony C. Maxwell, Paul Spite, Matt Swallows and Jim Woodford. Anderson is the only incumbent council member seeking re-election, although Jackson is a former Cookeville mayor and council member. Epps is a current member of the Putnam County commission. Meanwhile, in Algood, incumbent mayor Patt Judd will be challenged by Terry Foutch, while Bobby Randolph, Patricia King, Kirk A. Dyer, and Hugh Adams will vie for two seats on the council there. And, in Monterey, Jeff Hicks and Richard L. Smith will run in the mayor's race to replace Richard Godsey, who chose not to seek re-election.
