Letter Carriers Food Drive Needs Volunteers

The annual food drive, sponsored by the U.S. Postal Service and the National Association of Letter Carriers will be held this Saturday, May 8th. Cookeville-area residents are encouraged to leave bags of non-perishable food on their mailboxes for their local mail carrier to pick up. And officials say that because of the response they've gotten to the program, they are also recruiting volunteers to follow the mail carriers and help pick up the donated food. If you are able to help out, you should call 526-7141 by this Thursday, May 6th. The volunteers meet at 9am on Saturday at the main branch of the post office in Cookeville, located at 900 S. Willow Ave.
