Putnam County "Lucky" To Escape Flooding
"We were very, very lucky." That's how officials with the Cookeville-Putnam County Emergency Management Agency described their weekend. Assistant Director Sharon Templeton says that Putnam County was spared the worst of the flooding and severe weather damage reported to the west of here. She says the Martin's Creek area had some flooding reported -- as they typically do when there's a heavy rain. There were also scattered power outages, caused mostly by tree limbs knocked over in the heavier wind gusts. But while it was a long weekend for local storm spotters, it was -- comparatively -- an uneventful one.
