Electric Co-op Warns Of Fake Employee
Officials with Volunteer Energy Cooperative, which provides power to the Monterey area, say they have been told recently about a person who has been trying to gain access to a customer's home by claiming to be an employee of "the electric company." But co-op president Rody Blevins says their employees never ask to enter anyone's home because they do not perform work inside of homes. He says valid Volunteer Electric employees are identifiable by their uniforms, a photo ID card that they carry, and the VEC logo on their vehicles. He says anyone with doubts about someone on their property should call local law enforcement.
