Budget, Other Issues Face Committees Monday
Putnam County school officials say they have found enough energy savings to avoid having to ask for a tax increase to fund this year's budget. Until Friday night, they had been saying that they would need some 12 cents in additional property tax revenue to keep from running a deficit. The county school board will meet today to give official approval to the proposed spending plan, and the county budget committee is scheduled to meet this afternoon to talk about it as well. Meanwhile, the standing committees of the Putnam County commission will meet to take another look at two issues which have come up in the past. One is the adoption of a Financial Management Act for the county; the other is a decision on whether a car show promoter should be allowed to rent the fairgrounds.
