City Inviting Comments On Street Plans

The Cookeville Planning Commission will hold a public hearing regarding the adoption of a new Major Street Plan for Cookeville and its Urban Growth Boundary at its meeting later this month. That meeting -- and the public hearing -- will be held on Monday, August 23, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall located at 45 East Broad Street. The public is encouraged to attend. The proposed Major Street Plan identifies 33 major street improvement or construction projects. Number one on the list is the construction of an I-40 interchange at Mine Lick Creek Road. The widening of Lee Seminary Road and South Willow Avenue are also in the top ten, as is a proposed tunnel under I-40 to re-connect two parts of Bunker Hill Road. The proposed plan may be accessed here. Questions or comments are welcomed and may be submitted here.
