Cookeville Police Planning Sobriety Checkpoints

The Cookeville Police Department’s Traffic Division will be conducting a Sobriety Checkpoint later this week. It is scheduled to set up on Willow Avenue at the intersection of Jere Whitson Road on Friday, August 13. Travel in that area may be delayed slightly as officers determine whether impaired drivers are on the road. Sgt. James Harris of the Traffic Division says the department encourages everyone to drive responsibly, and to not operate a vehicle if alcohol has been consumed. He says if alcohol will be consumed, residents should plan ahead of time to have a designated driver.
