Drug Citations Issued To Several Residents
Two Cookeville residents are facing drug charges today after someone called police about seeing them allegedly "shooting up" in a vehicle at a local apartment complex. Officer Jimmy Blankenship later stopped that vehicle and -- while he didn't observe any direct drug activity -- he alleges that he found a "small treasure chest" in the vehicle with a hypodermic needle, two plastic straws that had been cut in half and a white residue. 23-year-old Davis Alexander Rhea of Dixie Avenue was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, while 28-year-old Jennifer Knowlton of Alcorn Street was cited for simple possession of a controlled substance. Meanwhile, in two other unrelated cases, police say 21-year-old Molly Kay Foster of Lee Avenue was cited for possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and illegal mushrooms after she allegedly consented to a search of her home, while 48-year-old Doreia Arlen Denny of Stout Street was issued citations for possession of hydrocodone and possession of marijuana following an investigation of a traffic accident on Jefferson Avenue.
