Woman Reports Fraud On Brand New Credit Card

A Putnam County woman reported to the sheriff's department this week that it didn't take long for apparent identity thieves to try and make unauthorized charges to her credit card. The victim says that she had a Bank of America Visa card which expired at the end of July. She told sheriff's deputy Randy Brown that she activated a new card on August 2nd and called Sony three days later to talk about an exchange on a Playstation 3 gaming system. One day after that telephone call, she was notified that someone had booked a flight from New York to the Dominican Republic and charged it to her newly activated card. She immediately called and cancelled the card, and was told that yet another charge had been made to the account. The fraud division of Sony is reportedly looking into the matter.
