Auto Salvage Yard Burglary Investigated

The Putnam County sheriff's office is investigating a break-in at an auto salvage yard on Bloomington Road this week. The owner told Deputy Larry Bennett that someone crossed over a fence and then broke in a door at the rear entrance of the yard, taking some power tools and other items. They also entered a storage barn and stole a 5000-watt generator, valued at some $1600 dollars. Police say fingerprints were found on the tin fence where the generator was apparently passed over the top to load into a waiting pick-up truck. Detective Doug Burgess is investigating.
