Drive-Thru Flu Shot Clinic Scheduled For Next Week
The Putnam County Health Department has now received their 2010-2011 supply of flu vaccine and officials have scheduled a drive-through clinic next week to administer the shots. The clinic will be held Tuesday through Thursday from 8 am to 5 pm. Health department director Lisa Bumbalough says no appointment is necessary to receive the flu vaccine, which this year contains protection against three main flu viruses that health officials have identified as likely to cause the most illness during flu season. Bumbalough says the injectable flu shot is approved for anyone age six months or older. And she says they also have Flu Mist available for those individuals between the ages of 2 and 49, who do not have long term health issues and who are not pregnant. The cost of the seasonal flu shot is still being determined, but the health department will bill Medicare and other third party payors as appropriate. You should have your method of payment and insurance cards easily available if you take part in the drive through clinics. For more information, you can call the health department at 528-2531.
