Thief Takes Advantage Of Churchgoers
Cookeville police say a thief took advantage of some worshippers at Sycamore Church of Christ this week, breaking into at least four vehicles while services were underway Sunday morning. In three of the incidents, a window was smashed to gain access to cash, a cell phone and an Ipod. One victim says the car burglar got just five dollars out of the vehicle, but did some two hundred dollars in damage. Another victim was spared the damage to her car because it was left unlocked, but a GPS system, which she had placed under the seat, was stolen. Police say the total cost of the damage and the stolen items is estimated to be around $1500. Detective David Gragg is investigating.
