Assault Charges Pending In Bar Incident

The Putnam County sheriff's department says charges of aggravated assault and disorderly conduct are pending against a Fentress County man, who allegedly threatened a Monterey tavern owner with a pool cue.  According to a report by Deputy Brian Cook, the incident took place Saturday night at the Monterey Sports Bar.  The victim claims that the suspect had been asked to leave the bar after he and a woman began "making out" and allegedly began undressing each other. The bar owner says the man became upset when told he had to leave and grabbed the pool stick, drawing it back as if he was going to swing it. That's when police were called, but Cook says the man had left the scene by the time they arrived. Warrants were taken out after police took statements from the bar owner and one of the employees who witnessed the incident.
