Arraignment Set In Drug Case
Authorities say a November 1st court date has been set for two local residents charged with possession of a controlled substance. Police say two 20-year-olds, Kenny Dewayne Hammons of Paran Road and Amber Pauline Frady of Austin Lake Road were arrested after a city police officer noticed them in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Clover Avenue. Officer Josh Ward claims that he found a baggie of crack cocaine on the ground where the two were standing, and alleges that there were numerous text messages on Frady's cell phone related to drug sales. He also says that Hammons had nearly a thousand dollars in cash, believed to be the proceeds from drug sales. That money was seized by police.
