Cookeville Men Arrested For Theft In Crossville
The Crossville Chronicle newspaper is reporting that police have arrested two persons — both from Putnam County — in connection with the theft of thousands of dollars worth of computers from the Crossville Walmart store. 24-year-old James Lee Vaughn of Brian Drive, and 27-year-old Randall Allen Brent of Byrne Avenue, have both been charged with theft between $10,000 and $60,000. The paper says both men were taken into custody by Putnam County authorities on warrants signed by Crossville Police Det. J.C. Hancock. They are accused of stealing 17 desktop computers from the store in August of this year. The computers were valued at some $12,000. Store officials say they have videos of the suspects, who somehow bypassed individual security devices attached to each computer.
