Final Stages Of Bacchanal Planning Underway

Final plans are being made this week for Bacchanal 2010: A Celebration of Art, Wine & Food, which is scheduled this year for Sunday, Oct. 24, from 1 to 5 pm., hosted by Spankies Restaurant in Cookeville. The annual event supports scholarships and programs for art students at Tennessee Tech University and the Appala-chian Center for Craft. Guests will be hearing smooth jazz by John Richards while indulging in a cocktail buffet, tasting a variety of wines and specialty beers, and perusing a selection of art and fine craft available during the live auction. Reservations are $40 per person (until Fri., Oct. 22) and $50 at the door. Guests also receive complimentary valet parking and commemorative wine and pint glasses.

"The Bacchanal is an excellent example of a successful partnership with community businesses, artists, individual supporters and the University," said Ward Doubet, director of TTU's Appalachian Center for Craft and Bacchanal Committee chairman. "The event has grown consistently over the years providing more opportunities for scholarships and unique programming for our art majors."

The Fairfield Inn and Suites by Marriott in Cookeville is offering discounted rates for Bacchanal revelers for the weekend of Oct. 23-24. For information and reservations call the Fairfield Marriott located at 1200 Sam's Street, 931-854-1050 or visit
