Detectives Investigating School Vandalism

Detectives with the Cookeville police department are looking into an incident in which a new school in Putnam County was vandalized. According to the police report, the new Prescott South Middle School was apparently not secured by construction workers, allowing vandals to gain access over the weekend and spray a fire extinguisher on the stage area.  Police say the vandals also moved two scissor lifts and ran them up through the ceiling tiles, doing additional damage.  The incident apparently occurred between 5:30 on Friday and 8 am on Saturday when workers returned to the school.  Officials say the new school is scheduled to be ready for occupancy later this month.
