School Board To Discuss Calendar
The Putnam County school board will be hearing a recommendation Thursday from their calendar committee on what sort of school year should be followed. The committee has been receiving input from the public for the past several weeks about their preferences for the timing and length of fall, winter, spring and summer breaks. Meanwhile, the board will also be deciding on some final expenditures at the new Prescott South schools, which are scheduled to open later this month. Among other things, they are being asked to approve a nearly sixty thousand dollar expenditure for playground equipment. And, as they get what may be a final update on the construction of the schools, board members will hear requests to approve three change orders -- including one to install acoustical wall panels in the dining areas of the schools. That's expected to cost more than $28,000.
