Suspicious Fire Investigated

Officials with the state's Bomb and Arson Squad have been notified to help investigate a fire that destroyed a home in the Deer Creek subdivision, off Buffalo Valley Road early Monday.  Authorities say the home was vacant and was up for sale when it burned to the ground.  The loss was placed at $375,000. According to Putnam County sheriff's deputy Chris Miller, it appeared that a side door to a garage area had been forced in. Miller also says he found several cans of paint in the driveway of the home, which were taken as evidence.  He says the fire was called in by a neighbor, who reported hearing a loud pop before seeing the flames.
