Overton Man Allegedly Admits Murder Plan
A man accused of murdering his own grandmother reportedly says he had been planning the whole thing and even rehearsed it. 72-year-old Hassie Breeding was found dead in her Overton County Home in December. Her grandson, Benjamin Bowers, and a 16-year-old girl, are both charged with her murder. An affidavit filed with the court by the TBI reveals that Bowers strangled Breeding with a dog leash, and the girl helped by putting a pillow over her face during the struggle. Meanwhile, court officials say Judge John Officer, who would normally have presided at the arraignment of Bowers, has recused himself because he, at one time, represented Ms. Breeding in legal matter.
