Police Putting Extra Patrols In School Zones
You can expect to see some extra patrolling around school zones Tuesday morning as Putnam County students go back to class. The Cookeville police department says they'll be keeping an especially close watch on the traffic around the new Prescott South schools. Access to the elementary school will be from the newly extended West Cemetery Road, while officials say the middle school will be accessed off South Jefferson Avenue. Police say the speed limits on both roads will be 15 miles an hour during the morning and afternoon hours when school traffic is a part of the mix. They have signs up on both roads to indicate the reduced speed and say they will be monitoring the situation until drivers get used to the new traffic patterns.
